ReSolve’s lignin pellets are a high-performance, low carbon fuel engineered to replace coal and petroleum coke in energy-intensive industries. Each tonne of lignin pellets delivers an heating value of approximately 27 gigajoules. This energy density is comparable to high-grade coal and significantly greater than that of traditional wood pellets, which typically range from 17 to 19 gigajoules per tonne.

 

The pellets’ high energy content, combined with low ash levels and consistent combustion characteristics, makes them ideally suited for industrial applications such as cement kilns, steel furnaces, and aluminum smelters, where stable high-temperature performance is essential.

 

When used to displace coal or other fossil fuels, lignin pellets can achieve up to 90 percent reductions in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions, without compromising process efficiency or heat output. The result is a renewable, drop-in replacement fuel that helps decarbonize some of the hardest-to-abate industrial sectors.
